Political:
Although membership of the CFA is restricted to Conservatives in the United Kingdom, CFA seeks to engage in a bipartisan relationship with members of both the Republican and Democratic parties within the United States.
Purpose:
To promote friendship and mutual understanding between the Conservative Party and the people and government of the United States of America. To stimulate an exchange of ideas between British Parliamentarians and United States politicians and members of the U.S. government.
Activities:
To increase transatlantic understanding through a series of well attended events in Parliament and elsewhere with guest speakers providing an opportunity for questions and a bilateral exchange of ideas and vision. Parliamentary events will include ‘Main Tier events’ which will be promoted at least one month in advance, will be held in a large room including refreshments before the meeting; and ‘Briefing’ events which will be held in a Committee Room without refreshment and be of shorter notice. Briefing events will be highly topical and determined usually by the short notice availability of the guest speaker. Both Main Tier and Briefing events will be held in the House of Commons. Events are also held at the national Party Conference for all Conservative Party members and there is an aim to provide opportunities for travel between the United Kingdom and the United States for CFA members.
